  1. Dust Suppressant (Primary Application): Applied to unpaved roads, construction sites, mines, etc. Its strong hygroscopicity helps keep surfaces damp, effectively suppressing dust. Often more effective and cost-efficient than calcium chloride for this purpose.

  2. Deicing Agent: Used for snow and ice melting on roads in winter. Its exothermic dissolution and freezing point depression aid in melting. Considered less damaging to vegetation and soil compared to some other deicers.

  3. Chemical Raw Material:
    · Production of Magnesium Compounds: A key raw material for producing magnesium oxide (MgO), magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)₂), magnesium carbonate, etc., via calcination or reaction with bases/carbonates.
    · Production of Metallic Magnesium: Metallic magnesium is produced by the electrolysis of molten anhydrous magnesium chloride.
