It represents an upgrade and integration of the functions of Sulfonated Lignite (SMC) and Sulfonated Phenolic Resin (SMP). It appears as a black or brownish-black powder or granules. The SPNH molecule contains both the adsorbing groups from the humic acid skeleton and the rigid sulfonated structure of the phenolic resin, endowing it with excellent adsorption/encapsulation capacity and steric stabilization. Its temperature resistance (often exceeding 230°C/446°F) and fluid loss control performance far surpass those of individual SMC or SMP products, making it a core additive for water-based drilling fluids in deep, complex formations and ultra-deep wells.
